Welcome to Tahakopa School-where “From small seeds grow forest giants.”
We are a year 1-8 primary school with a proud 126 year history of educating students in the Tahakopa district.

We are a small three teacher school committed to providing a nurturing Whanau-like atmosphere where all children can thrive both personally and academically.
Tahakopa school offers a positive, inclusive environment which leads to our students making responsible decisions as well as maintaining positive relationships.
We aim to provide a life-long passion for learning where our students can strive for personal excellence.
Our school values and beliefs of the school community; Respect, Honesty and Kindness are modelled by staff and encouraged and explored through everything that we do.

We are situated on the very doorstep of the most pristine native bush, beach and waterfall areas that Aotearoa has to offer!
We have a rich local history and experts within our community which enriches and provides an amazing resource for us to call on.

Staff are constantly undertaking Professional Development in the specialised areas of Neurodiversity as well as Trauma informed practices.

We are aware of the changing needs of children and we are passionate about providing a learning environment and teaching programme which will give students Agency and self-direction.

We look forward to welcoming you to Tahakopa School and igniting a spark of learning within your child.

We have extensive grounds which feature swings, trampoline as well as a turf area which we use with our Sports Activator sessions/ netball etc.
We are in the process of establishing a ‘Sensory Walk” through an area of our grounds and replanting with native flora and fauna.
